Grant Review Committee Team Members Essential - Consider Fall 2025 Opportunity


At the BCF, grant funding is awarded through a thoughtful, structured process that ensures accountability and impact. Volunteer reviewers use a clearly defined scoring rubric to assess each application based on set criteria. This framework helps ensure funding decisions are fair, strategic, and focused on addressing the most pressing local needs. Most of the review work can be done remotely from the comfort of a volunteer’s home, making participation flexible and accessible. The review process culminates in a group meeting where scores are discussed and final funding recommendations are made collaboratively.


Serving as a grant reviewer offers volunteers a unique window into the heart of our community. It provides meaningful insight into the challenges local individuals and families face, and highlights the incredible work being done by nonprofit organizations to meet those needs—from youth programming and senior services to mental health support and beyond. Volunteers not only contribute to strengthening our community, but they also build new connections and friendships with fellow reviewers who share a passion for service and civic engagement.

Youth Advisory Council Brings Fun and Games to Baseline's Bees & Blossoms Festival


We’re buzzing with excitement for the 5th annual Bees & Blossoms Festival at Baseline! Join the celebration on Saturday, August 16, from 2–5 p.m. at The Big Green for an afternoon filled with summer fun and community connection.


The Broomfield Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council will be on-site hosting a variety of interactive games—welcoming both kids and adults to jump in, play, and enjoy the festivities.


This year’s event features a fresh twist for grown-ups: a beer and mead garden, with proceeds supporting Denver Urban Gardens and their mission to grow healthy communities.


Unwind and enjoy the nostalgic sounds of Linger: A Tribute to The Cranberries—the perfect laid-back soundtrack for this sunny afternoon celebration.

This June, two summer camps hosted by Broomfield Early Childhood Council gave 25 local youth the chance to explore their creativity, build friendships, and discover community resources—thanks to grant funding from the Broomfield Community Foundation.


From garden tours and mural painting to museum visits and library adventures, these campers experienced a summer to remember.

Housing with Heart: Two Groundbreakings Signal Hope for a More Affordable Broomfield


At the Broomfield Community Foundation, we know that community-based solutions are strongest when we collaborate—bringing together civic and business leaders, donors, partners, and organizations to address the challenges that affect us all. And today, we celebrate not just collaboration, but progress.


We’d like to congratulate these groups for rolling up their sleeves to make affordable housing a real possibility in Broomfield, Colorado: Broomfield Housing Alliance Board of Commissioners,Kristin Hyser, ED of the Broomfield Housing Alliance and her team, Ulysses Development Group,  the City and County of Broomfield leadership including Guyleen Castriotta.


Two major affordable housing projects officially broke ground this summer, demonstrating what’s possible when vision, advocacy, and partnership come together to serve community needs.  Learn more about the two projects here.

A Strong Start: Supporting Kindergarten Readiness

Through Summer Summitts


Do you remember your first classroom experience? Sitting cross-legged on a rug, raising your hand, learning to count with marshmallows—it’s all part of the big transition into kindergarten.


This June, Broomfield Community Foundation helped make those first experiences possible for incoming kindergarteners through the Rising K Summer Summit, a month-long academic program fully funded by Impact on Education and supported in part by BCF.


Hosted at Birch Elementary, the program welcomed students from across the district—many of whom had never attended preschool—giving them a vital head start on literacy, numeracy, and classroom routines.


Early childhood education changes lives, and the results speak for themselves:

  • 100% of last year’s participants enrolled in school
  • 80% met kindergarten readiness benchmarks
  • 80% improved in core academic areas

AVIATION SCHOLARSHIPS OPEN UNTIL MIDNIGHT

AUGUST 4TH - Colorado and Oklahoma Eligibility


Every two years, the
Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology Aviation Scholarship, administered by the Broomfield Community Foundation, offers valuable funds to students training across ALL aviation-related programs.


Multiple scholarships will be issued — up to $5,000 each — with a total of $20,000 in total funding available.


Eligible applicants include aviation students located in Colorado or Oklahoma — enrollment at Spartan College is NOT required.


This is a flexible scholarship that goes beyond tuition assistance. Awards may be used to support a variety of essential educational expenses, including:

  • Flight equipment rental
  • Aviation maintenance
  • Avionics training
  • Non-destructive testing (NDT) training

As we setttle into routine after a busy summer, it’s a good time to reflect on what truly matters—our shared values and the kind of community we want to build together.


In June, the Broomfield Community Foundation conducted a nonprofit climate survey, and the results are clear:

  • Basic human service needs are greater than ever in Broomfield.
  • Local nonprofits are facing significant funding shortfalls.


Recent changes to federal assistance programs will increase the number of residents in need of food, housing, and healthcare support. For example, in Colorado, over 584,000 people rely on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)—and many will soon face reduced access to this vital resource. Additionally, cuts to housing programs like Section 8 vouchers could leave an estimated 150 Broomfield households at risk of losing their homes, as eligibility tightens and funding shrinks.


At the Broomfield Community Foundation, we are committed to helping our neighbors through these challenges.
